The Future
Our research will upgrade the performance of the seismic-resisting systems to which it is applied from 'controlled damage' to 'no damage' via easy-to-implement outcomes. The research programme is carefully planned to generate the outcomes in a scope and format as close as possible to current practice in order to provide a smooth and easy transition from creating only life safe buildings to creating highly resilient buildings
This includes eliminating damage to new and existing
buildings in future severe earthquakes and fires, through minimal additional cost or complexity compared with those of traditional systems. The outcome will be precise and accurate highly resilient seismic-resisting systems, designed and constructed to fit any code-specified level of earthquake intensity, for a wide range of structures with different construction materials.
